چکیده

This study aims to model the motorized two-wheeler (MTW) riders’ evasive-action behavior towards jaywalking pedestrians using a mockup study. The brake reaction times (BRTs), approach speeds, decelerations, headings, and yaw rates were analyzed for two surprise scenarios (scenarios 1 3), one stationary scenario (scenario-2), expected (scenario-4). In total, 50 riders participated in results revealed that 90th percentile BRT 3.6 1.6 s, respectively. Further, repeated-measures ANOVA was performed followed by mixed effect modeling ascertain of conflict severity (two groups: group-1 with Time Collision (TTC) < 1.5 s group-2 TTC > s) type (three 1, 3 4) on BRT. indicated main effects significant while interaction not significant. positive coefficient (0.32) higher BRTs than group-1. Considering scenario-1 as base scenario, (-0.02) scenario-3 had similar BRT, scenario-4 (1.47) compared scenario-1. analysis evasive action 32% hard braking scenarios. rate values at crossing point loss control MTW 90% events. observations from this provide basis developing countermeasures improve pedestrian rider safety.

Studies of Two-Dimensional Vortex Streets

Periodic vortex streets, often considered as a model for the organized structures observed in the wake of two-dimensional (2D) bluff bodies, are revisited. After the generation of the shear layers the formation of the vortices is mainly an inviscid process. An intrinsic scaling for the formation of vortex streets is found based on the invariants of motion for 2D inviscid flows; namely the kinet...

Are child pedestrians at increased risk of injury on one-way compared to two-way streets?

OBJECTIVES To compare child pedestrian injury rates on one-way versus two-way streets in Hamilton, and examine whether the characteristics of child pedestrian injuries differ across street types. METHODS The rates of injury per child population, per kilometre, per year were calculated by age, sex and socio-economic status (SES). Child, environment and driver characteristics were investigated ...

Influence of Reckless Jaywalking on Urban Road Traffic Capacity

A modified cellular automaton (CA) model based on the NaSch model is proposed to simulate the typical reckless jaywalking which can cause serious traffic jam and even traffic accident. Incorporating traffic psychology, the walking characteristics such as customary activity, randomness, conformity and tendency are analyzed. Two parameters reflecting the influence degree of human factor is introd...
